Management Development Associate

Overview:
Prepare Associates to initially assume mid-level professional roles inside NBT at the conclusion of the ten/twelve month training program. Associates’ preparation will be achieved through education, skills development (training), coaching, and actual work experiences providing both intellectual, personal, and skill growth. Performs assigned duties, responsibilities, and studies throughout the Bank as required through the training program. Become familiar with the operations and procedures in each of the departments through training and various work assignments. Incumbents must rotate sequentially throughout the company on a specified training program. Areas of focus may vary but are likely to include Retail Banking, Credit, Business Banking, Operations, Wealth Management, Risk Management, Consumer Lending and other related areas.

Primary Tasks:
Exposure/perform essential functions of Retail Banking: (Branch transactions, Consultative customer service). Exposure/perform essential functions of Credit Support: (Analyze Credit information, Spread financials/tax returns for purposes of loans). Exposure/perform essential functions of Consumer Lending: (Underwriting, Indirect Lending, Specialty Lending, Mortgage Lending). Exposure/perform essential functions of Business/Commercial Banking: (Underwriting, Customer calls). Exposure/perform essential functions of Operations: (Contact/Call Center, Account setup & maintenance, Verification & Scanning, Account reconciliation - Cash management support, Loan Operations, Loan Doc & Collateral Control). Exposure/perform essential functions of Risk Management: (Audit, Loan Review, Compliance, BSA, and Information Security). Exposure/perform essential functions of Wealth Management: (Personal Trust, Retirement Plan Services, Investments/Brokerage, Operations/Compliance).

Secondary Tasks:
Classroom instruction regarding overviews of various relevant areas in which a working stint is either limited or non-existent. Areas of focus will include but are not limited to Accounting/Finance, Commercial Banking (i.e. Ag Lending, Government Banking, Cash Management), and departments that fall within the Operations Division. Associates may be assigned to unique projects/teams throughout the duration of the Management Development Program. 

Knowledge, Education & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration or related degree required.
  • 3.0 cumulative GPA desired.
  • Prior work and volunteer experience desired.
