Bhaiyo Internship

If you are driven to create content and conversations on Gender-Based Violence and Human Rights then SAHIYO is looking for you!
Sahiyo internships are currently a minimum commitment of 6 months for 10 hours per week. As the positions are (mostly) virtual, interns can be located anywhere in the world but must be comfortable with working independently and remotely.
Internships are unpaid (though a small stipend may be available). As Sahiyo continues to grow, we hope to be able to provide this opportunity as paid positions in the future for the right person. In the meantime, this internship is a great opportunity for someone to work with an internationally recognized organization, and learn how organizations develop from the ground up.

Recognizing that male engagement in this work is vital to ending FGC, Bhaiyo, aims to create a space where male allies can come together to collaborate, spark dialogue, and spread information about this form of gender-based violence and it’s harmful impacts.
The word, ‘Bhaiyo’ exists as a mirror to ‘Sahiyo’. Sahiyo is the Bohra Gujarati word for ‘saheliyo’ (female friends), and Bhaiyo means male friends, or brothers.
Requirements:
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Comfortable connecting with other organizations
  • Cultural awareness is key to this role
  • Please be a creative problem solver
  • Hardworking, driven, energetic, results-oriented and independent but able to keep in contact with team
  • Eager to learn about the issue, with a focus on engaging with the community in a culturally appropriate and sensitive manner
  • Able to prioritise, organize, manage time well, and deliver to agreed deadlines
Responsibilities and Duties:
  • Support Sahiyo Advisory Board and Staff with day to day function of Bhaiyo.
  • Recruit and interview members for Bhaiyo
  • Research topics for Bhaiyo webinars, discussions, and panels
  • Promote communications on male engagement in gender-based violence work and Bhaiyo programming for Sahiyo’s various communication platforms.

In addition, please send in a video of yourself (can be brief) answering the question: What do you think is the biggest obstacle to achieving abandonment of female genital cutting?
