Barings Analyst Program - Global Private Structured Finance

Barings’ Global Private Structured Finance Group is seeking a program analyst to support its investment activities across residential, consumer and commercial asset finance.  The role will provide an excellent opportunity to gain exposure to all facets of a fast growing, direct origination business, working closely with seasoned industry experts.  The position will reside in our Charlotte, NC office and report to the sector heads of Residential Asset Finance and Consumer & Commercial Asset Finance.

The goal of the Analyst Program is to train junior professionals such that they are able to provide leverage to senior professionals while utilizing them in a manner such that high performers will want to remain with the firm in roles of increased responsibility.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Act as research assistant for senior origination and research analysts
  • Produce research from primary and secondary sources
  • Support model development for analysis of transactions and sectors
  • Track issuer and industry trends as well as macroeconomic performance drivers
  • Conduct surveillance on portfolio holdings and identify performance drivers
  • Manage data staging and support modeling of bid tapes from originators, servicers and dealers
  • Learn the firm’s analytics platforms and become proficient at analyzing reports and in understanding various valuation methods
  • Quickly and efficiently navigate data to help successfully tackle team initiatives and stakeholder requests
  • Creation of analytical presentations and communication of strategic business findings to management
  • Ability to excel in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability and willingness to travel

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree with May 2022 completion date; concentration in mathematics and/or statistics desired
  • Minimum GPA of 3.3
  • Experience with programming languages and databases desired
  • Excellent attention to detail and work ethic
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Effective communication skills across multiple levels of a diverse organization
