Serval Ventures Internship
Serval Ventures is an emerging tech and infrastructure venture builder, investor, and innovation partner. We have been developing a more holistic approach to venture investing to accelerate the velocity to- and in-market of transformative solutions for the 21st century that will return well and consistently. Serval is based in New York City with a global focus.
As an intern, you will work on a wide range of rapidly evolving projects with our portfolio companies, venture builds, and events. You will have opportunities to have direct experience with startups and advisors/mentors, be involved in meetings at all levels, and learn from working closely with Managing Partner June W Choi who will take time and care to contextualize and coach you throughout the internship.
Terms
- Part-time Internship
- Non-Paid
- Generally about 10 hours/week
- Length of internship is flexible, but we ask for a minimum of 20 full weeks total of engagement (a summer & semester, or 2 semesters)
- Mostly virtual internship (possibility for in-person meetings as available).
Your responsibilities may include, though not limited to:
- Research
- Marketing sizing
- Working on financial models
- Participating in strategy sessions
- Working on content, marketing, presentation, and fundraising materials
- Networking and meetings with various stakeholders in the startup ecosystem
- Individual and group meetings
- Potential to embed with a particular startup if interests & skills mutually align.
We particularly want you if your skills encompass:
- Exceptional communication skills (oral and written)
- Self-motivation with the ability to work independently and take initiative
- Ability to work well with others in fluid collaborative situations
- Curiosity, eagerness to learn, and responsiveness to feedback
- Owning a computer and proficiency in basic suite of business tools
- Other previous work experience preferred
- Some experience with tech, data, economics/finance, hard & social sciences, innovation/entrepreneurship a plus.
We have some specific projects we are currently focused on and looking for interns with strong interests, and ideally some experience, within certain areas:
- Helping make our growing portfolio of exciting data-heavy (AI, fintech, blockchain, healthtech, climatetech, etc.) early-stage startups more investable
- Venture builds - Investability Assessment (IA), College Pulse
- Implementation of Serval’s broad-scale ecosystem approach to growing startups and nurturing under-represented founders that incorporates multi-faceted events, hackathons, workshops, sprints, and presentations.
