Position Announcement
Certified Nursing Assistant - McLean County Nursing Home
Starting Salary Range: $16.9175/hour
Full-Time, Part-Time, and PRN positions available, All Shifts
 
Position Summary
The CNA will interact directly with residents of the Nursing Home, providing daily support in all aspects of resident’s daily care.
 
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Ambulate and transfer residents utilizing appropriate assistive devices and body mechanics
  • Routinely turn and position residents
  • Immediately answer the call light of each resident
  • Make beds and change linens per facility policy
  • Measure and record residents’ heights and weights
  • Take residents temperature, pulse, respiration, and blood pressure
  • Care for incontinent residents
  • Collect sputum, urine, and stool specimens
  • Observe and document food and fluid intake of residents
  • Pass out trays and feed/assist residents as needed
  • Always keep assigned resident bedside area clean and personal belongings in orderly arrangement
  • Observe and report any changes in the condition of residents
  • Other duties as assigned by the Director of Nursing or Nursing Home Administrator
 
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledge of proper infection control procedures when handling clothing and linens
  • Ability to detect and correct situations that have a probability of causing accidents or injuries to the residents
  • Be aware of sterile procedures and avoid contamination
  • Interpersonal skills to motivate and encourage residents to participate in wellness activities
  • Ability to work well on a team
 
 Required Qualifications
  • Current CNA certification
  • In good standing with the Illinois Healthcare Worker Registry
  • State of Illinois requires that each CNA receives 12 hours of in-service each year – McLean County Nursing Home will schedule the in-services and you are required to attend to obtain your required number of hours
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Completion of the state-approved Nurse Aide training course or meets the State of Illinois Department of Public Health waiver standards designating him or her a qualified Nurse Aide by virtue of past training, employment history, and on the job experience
  • Computer literacy is a must
 
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior experience in geriatric care in a nursing home or in other related health care facilities
 
Physical Attributes/Demands
  • Lifts and carries light objects such as resident charts, resident care treatment items, etc.
  • Occasionally transfers up to 75 pounds with assist while lifting and positioning and transferring residents
  • Pushes/pulls medication carts requiring force of 10-30 pounds
  • Pushes/pulls residents weighing 78-300 pounds in wheelchairs
  • Reposition residents weighing 78-300 pounds in bed for treatments and nursing procedures as needed
  • Stands and walks up to 75% of shift to provide resident care
  • Stoops, bends and squats as required to reach lower drawers on medication carts, adjust resident items, etc.
