Overview

Under the general supervision of the Director of Comparative Medicine, the Research Associate/Project Manager will work as part of a multidisciplinary research team composed of veterinarians, staff scientists, research associates, and veterinary and research technicians. The individual will interact directly with external program sponsors, and interface between the scientific teams and other business units within the institution to coordinate project schedules and track deliverables. Responsibilities may also include assistance with document preparation, including proposals, study protocols and final reports and with management of other program-specific data or information.
 
Research programs are broad in scope, and may include animal model development and characterization studies as well as pre-IND pharmacology, efficacy and/or toxicology studies. Research disciplines include infectious disease, physiology/pharmacology, and rare disease/gene therapy. Previous training and experience in related scientific fields is highly desirable.
 
 

Qualifications

Requires a masters degree in a related scientific discipline and a minimum of 2 years demonstrated research experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been attained.
The successful candidate must have superior professional-level written and verbal communication skills; a high degree of professionalism, excellent judgment, problem-solving and decision-making skills as well as the ability to work effectively with a diverse group of professionals in a fast-paced environment. Demonstrated ability in managing a wide variety of complex tasks and projects simultaneously while meeting multiple deadlines is required. Proficiency with MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, and MS Project or equivalent and must have the ability to learn department-specific computer systems as needed. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail are essential.
