Overview

Under the general supervision of the Director of Comparative Medicine, the Research Technologist is a part of a multidisciplinary research team composed of veterinarians, staff scientists, research associates, and veterinary and research technicians. Research programs are broad in scope, and may include animal model development and characterization studies as well as pre-IND pharmacology, efficacy and/or toxicology studies. Research disciplines include infectious disease, physiology/pharmacology, and rare disease/gene therapy.
 
The Research Technologist will perform a variety of complex tasks following established techniques and procedures as part of the Comparative Medicine and Pharmacology Teams. Tasks may include both in vivo and in vitro procedures, including dose administration, assistance with complex in vivo measurements, sample collection and processing, organization of study data, sample inventory and shipment, and assistance with other tasks related to study coordination and execution. The Research Technologist will work with a variety of animal species. The ideal candidate will work well in a fast-paced and team-oriented environment. General knowledge and experience in preclinical research is highly desirable; strong communication and organizational skills are essential, as is a high aptitude and desire for learning new research skills and techniques.

Qualifications

Requires a bachelor’s degree in a related scientific discipline or with comparable course work; or an equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been attained.


Preferred/Additional Qualifications

ALAT/LAT/LATg certification is preferred. Incumbent is encouraged to sit for ALAT and/or LAT within 12 months of employment.

Salary

Salary is commensurate with experience.
