Clinical Intern


ORGANIZATION DESCRIPTION 
Doc Wayne Youth Services is an award-winning non-profit that has pioneered the leading
approach to sport-based therapy and catalyzed a mental health movement. We provide
training, tools, and services that address emotional, behavioral, traumatic, racial, gender, and
cultural-based barriers by providing equitable access to better mental health for all. Our
clinician-led curricula puts sport into practice, strengthening social-emotional skills in young
learners to build healthier, more resilient global communities.


JOB DESCRIPTION 
Undergraduate Clinical interns are responsible for the following, after a period of training and shadowing: 
  • Provide support to clinicians for sports-based Therapeutic Recess programs
  • Shadow psychosocial assessments and intakes 
  • Participate in clinical supervision and curriculum training sessions 
  • Participate in staff meetings as academic schedule allows 
  • Completion of semester or yearly projects assigned by their site supervisor 

*Specific responsibilities and hours are set in accordance with the intern’s academic program. 

Qualifications: 
  • A current undergraduate or graduate student in social work, counseling psychology, or related field 
  • Continued progress towards academic program requirements and responsibilities 
  • Dynamic energy, dedication, and belief in the power of sports to benefit children 
  • Experience working with at-risk youth (preferred) 
  • Experience playing or coaching sports (preferred) 
  • Superior interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills 
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to multi-task efficiently 
  • Excellent professional boundaries 
  • Team player 
  • Ability to think out of the box, share ideas, and get involved 

Requirements: 
  • Valid driver’s license 
  • Access to car (preferred) 
  • CORI background check 
  • Ability to respect client confidentiality 
  • Knowledge of and experience with athletics/coaching 
  • Spanish speaking and writing capabilities (preferred)
