Resident Supervisor

Summary:
The role of the Resident Supervisor is foster a healthy and inclusive residential environment where each girl feels empowered to live comfortably and grow. This position requires a responsible, caring, energetic, and engaged professional who is interested in helping high school girls make connections, develop relationships, and navigate all aspects of community living. The position also includes Residential Life (RL) duties predominantly during the weeknights and weekends. This position has experience in residential life and/or youth mentoring. This position is instrumental in creating a homelike atmosphere in the dorms centered on inclusion and belonging, and is willing and available to regularly socialize and talk with students and help when advice is needed. This position is 32 hours per week and is August through June and the Resident Supervisor does not work mid June through mid August. This position starts January 5, 2022.
 
Essential Job Functions: 
 
  • Provides afternoon, evening and or weekend duty supervision of the dorms;
  • Supports and occasionally leads lessons and modules from Residential Life Curricular strands;
  • Communicates all concerns promptly to the Director of Community Life or another School Administrator if Director is unavailable;
  • Develops professional relationships with students and team members;
  • Contributes to the provision of an environment which supports the academic, social, emotional and physical well-being and development of students;
  • Supervises, cares and accounts for the whereabouts of students; chaperones weekend outings.
Other Job Functions: 
  • Participates in Residential Community events-dinners, parties, cultural celebrations;
  • Other duties as assigned
 
Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities: 
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Previous experience in residential life preferred
  • Have an energetic, caring and positive demeanor
  • Strong interpersonal skills, a sense of humor and a genuine interest in living and working with adolescent girls
  • Understanding and appreciation of multicultural diversity
  • Must possess excellent verbal communication and listening skills
  • Must hold a valid California drivers license and have automobile insurance
 
Physical and Environmental Conditions:
  • Must be able to sit, stand, walk, run, observe and monitor student behavior in all facets of the school environment.
  • Must be able to use the telephone and office equipment
  • Able to reach, bend and/or lift 50 pounds
  • Occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and or pulling
  • Must be able to drive students to and from activities days and evenings
