Communications and Marketing Manager, ESG Center

Position Summary:
Today, the biggest trend sweeping the business world is ESG: how companies approach environmental, social, and governance challenges. As the Communications and Marketing Manager for our ESG Center, you’ll play a critical role in raising the prominence of one of the world’s leading research organizations.

You’ll work with a passionate team to develop communications and marketing campaigns for research that addresses the most pressing, consequential ESG issues facing companies. Topics include companies taking stands on hot-button issues; best practices for diversifying management teams and corporate boards; how the business community can advance racial equality; and how companies can create a more sustainable future.

Your contributions will not only elevate The Conference Board, but also advance meaningful change by helping our Member companies anticipate what’s ahead, improve their performance, and better serve society.

The Manager reports to the Senior Marketing Manager.

Responsibilities:
Social and Traditional Media:
  • Enact and measure social media campaigns on LinkedIn, Twitter, and Facebook that increase engagement around our thought leadership and insights. Promote content spanning podcasts, webcasts, media coverage, research reports, and more.  
  • Develop press releases for trade and national media. Monitor news cycle to identify media opportunities to pitch our research and experts for interviews. Cultivate relationships with key media.

Newsletters:
  • In collaboration with subject matter experts, develop and deploy two monthly newsletters about the ESG Center’s latest insights and offerings.
  • Develop the ESG section of a weekly newsletter from The Conference Board that targets CEOs from the world’s most prominent companies.

Marketing:
  • Collaborate with our Publishing and Digital Media teams to create marketing collateral supporting the ESG Center.
  • Develop the agenda for, and lead, a weekly ESG meeting about communications and marketing activities.

Website Content Management:
  • Manage the ESG Center sections of the website; proactively take steps to increase Member engagement.
  • Contribute ESG Center website metrics, such as report downloads and web traffic, to an engagement dashboard.

Essential Functions:
  • Provide support in the areas of social media, traditional media, newsletters, database maintenance, marketing collateral, and website content management. 

Knowledge and Skills:
  • Excellent communications and writing skills; experience turning complex topics into accessible messages.
  • Experience with social media, including posting to or managing the accounts of an executive or organization.
  • Experience in media relations, such as drafting press releases, placing bylines, and pitching the press.
  • Experience in website content management.
  • Experience in integrated communications, including working with other marketing and communications professionals on a range of initiatives such as newsletters, website copy, internal announcements, and brand definition.
  • The ability to manage multiple projects, lead meetings, and ensure deadlines are met.

Education and Experience Requirements:
  • 2-4 years of experience in communicating and marketing various environmental, social, and/or governance (ESG) issues. Ideally, this person will have experience promoting ESG issues at a non-profit, association, government agency, university, corporation, or PR firm.
  • Bachelor's degree
  • The ideal candidate will be a high-energy self-starter who collaborates well with others and acts in a collegial manner that promotes teamwork and builds credibility and trust in the Marketing Department.
