Investment Banking Internship – Debt Capital Markets (DCM), Latin America (role based in NYC)

Our structure

DCM LatAm Team
The LatAm DCM team, based out of New York and with a presence across Mexico City, Sao Paulo and Buenos Aires, is responsible for the origination, structuring and syndication of fixed income instruments on behalf of clients including sovereigns, quasi-sovereigns, corporates, multilateral development banks, financial institutions and special-purpose vehicles. The team also provides clients with content-based advice regarding debt-funded acquisitions, credit ratings, capital structure optimization and debt profiling strategies, among others, and covers clients across Mexico, Brazil, Argentina, Colombia, Peru, Chile, Uruguay, Central America and the Caribbean.
HSBC is globally recognized as the premier debt house, having been recently awarded Most Innovative Investment Bank for Emerging Markets in 2019 by the Banker Investment Banking Awards for 2019. The HSBC LatAm DCM team, meanwhile, is the undisputed market leader, with a top 5 position in the League Tables (in terms of issuance volumes and number of transactions) for the last five years and leading the most significant and innovative transactions out of the region.
To be considered for the internship with DCM LatAm you will be a student in their penultimate year who has:
· Bachelor’s degree with graduation on or before June 2023
· Minimum of a 3.2 cumulative GPA or international equivalent
· Spanish and/or Portuguese fluency required
· Self-awareness, clear near-term career goals and well-articulated interest in DCM
· Basic economics, corporate finance and statistics knowledge
· Proficiency in MS Office (specifically in Excel and PowerPoint)
· US work authorization (though we will also consider highly-qualified candidates who require visa sponsorship)
