Staff Psychologist

Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) is requesting to fill an upcoming vacancy in a full-time, 12-month Staff Psychologist
position. Duties for this position will include the delivery of counseling and consultation services to UAlbany students experiencing mental health concerns, mental health consultation and training for faculty, staff, and families; and mental health promotion programming for students. The incumbent will also provide assessment and psychological testing, screening and brief intervention for alcohol and other drug use, supervision for psychologists-in-training, and backup support for the Middle Earth Hotline. 
This position operates within Counseling and Psychological Services, (CAPS), a comprehensive counseling center, which is the sole counseling and mental health service provider on the University at Albany campus. As with all CAPS positions, this position exists to support the mental health and well-being of UAlbany students. The incumbent will:
  • Provide direct clinical services to students in individual, couples, and group contexts, which aim to alleviate mental health concerns and symptoms and support the success of UAlbany students
  • Provide mental health promotion programming with the goal of enhancing the well-being of the entire student population and campus community 
  • Provide consultation and training to faculty, staff, and families who are experiencing concerns regarding the mental health of UAlbany students 
  • Develop and deliver mental health promotion programming for UAlbany students
  • Supervise psychologists-in-training, including graduate students in practicum positions at CAPS and Doctoral Psychology interns
  • Engagement on Student Affairs and University Committee and workgroups 

Requirements:
  • Doctoral degree from an American Psychological Association (APA) -accredited program in clinical or counseling psychology conferred from a college or university accredited by the U.S. Department of Education (ED) or an internationally recognized accrediting organization, as well as successful completion of a Doctoral Internship in Health Service Psychology
  • New York State license in Professional Psychology or receipt of licensure within one year of hiring date
  • Strong diagnostic and clinical skills
  • Experience in working with a broad range of psychological, emotional, and developmental concerns
  • Experience in working with a traditional college-aged population
  • Conceptual understanding of counseling center service delivery within a comprehensive public health framework
  • Demonstrated ability to work successfully with diverse populations including students of color, international students, students with disabilities, LGBTQ students, and Veterans
