Laundry Software Integration Engineer

This role in summary

The Laundry Settings File Engineer - Analyst role is located on the Laundry Settings File team within the Performance Subsystem. The primary function of this role is to deliver an integrated software design that provides the requested performance, features and functions for washers and dryers. This global role offers endless opportunities to work on all types of global designs and machine types and provides numerous experiences to help you learn and grow in your career.

 

Your responsibilities will include

Design specification and documentation, test plan creation, implementation, integration, and testing for integrated settings file designs within the IBM rational toolset, and the proprietary Whirlpool software development tools.
Coding of cycle design requirements for major projects.
System-level attribute delivery for final integrated software on 1-3 machine types (front load washers, top load washers, washer/dryer combos, air vented dryers, heat pump dryers, and/or condensing dryers) 
Firmware and settings file integration and project management of minor and derivative projects. 
Utilize Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA) and risk assessment tools to assist in decision making.
Support of marketing claims development and validation
Work closely with the cycle design team, the ramp and extraction team, and setting file V&V team, electrical system integrator, subsystem engineers, and software team to ensure all features and functions are implemented, tested, defects logged in IBM RTC, and root cause identified. 
Work closely with the entire technical team to deliver product requirements on time as an integrated package.
Final release of setting file configuration documentation and prints into Windchill. 
Develop new and improve existing test methods and test plans for performance validation.
Responsible for continuous improvement of the development process including:
Validation test methods and test plans reducing test cycle time and improving the ability to detect quality issues earlier in development. 
Feature and Function specification, implementation, and target setting
Process documentation creation and release
 

Minimum requirements

Bachelor's Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Mechatronic, Aeronautical, Electronics, or Computer Engineering
1+ years of professional experience in software, software testing, and algorithm/sensor design and verification -- experience with industry-standard software languages, embedded software development, and tools.
Experience communicating with cross-functional global teams in English
Experience working with various software languages (C, Python, Javascript, etc.).
 

Preferred skills and experiences

1+ years of experience in washers, dryers, or similar is preferred: understanding of operation/physics of laundry products.
Experience with projects using a stage-gate process
Effective communication skills and the ability to work cross-functionally and globally
Basic knowledge of FMEAs, 6 sigma tools, Risk Management, and Project Management
