Software defined radios (SDRs) in Space - Software Engineer

The Space Dynamics Laboratory is seeking a Software Engineer to develop software and algorithms for software defined radios (SDRs) in support of space-based mesh networking. Candidates should possess familiarity with SDRs and their implementation, and one or more of the following areas: embedded software, mesh networking, signal processing, and data visualization. Development environments include Python, Linux, Matlab, AWS, ANSI C, and C++. Candidates should be proficient in modern software configuration management and modern software development practices including agile methods.    

This position is located in sunny Albuquerque, NM, and the work location will be on Kirtland Air Force Base. The ability to obtain and maintain a DoD clearance is required and an existing DoD or DoE clearance is preferred.

Required Qualifications:
  • BS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field
  • 5+ years of experience in software engineering or 3+ years with master’s degree in a related field
  • Working knowledge of C/C++ and at least one of the following programing languages: Python, C#, MATLAB, Julia
  • Strong computing background and can demonstrate capabilities in object-oriented design and development
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Must be able to work effectively both independently and as a team member
  • Per federal mandate, must be willing to be fully vaccinated from COVID-19 or provide reasons for medical or religious accommodation
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen and be able to obtain a U.S. Government Security Clearance
  • Some travel may be required

Preferred Qualifications: Let us know in your application materials if you possess the following:
  • Active Top Secret U.S. Government Security clearance
  • Experience with software defined radios
  • Experience with JavaScript, Node.js, Git, Docker, VMware, Angular
  • Experience with digital signal processing
  • Experience with Linux system administration
  • Experience with scientific data visualization
