Project Manager

The American Battlefield Trust, the nation’s premier historic land preservation nonprofit, seeks a Project Manager to work with landowners, partner organizations, government grant sources, and other Trust staff to complete land preservation projects, including conservation easements and fee simple transactions.

Location: Washington, DC (Hybrid)
Job Classification: Full-Time; Exempt
Department: Land Preservation

Major Duties and Responsibilities
  • Initial outreach and communication with landowners
  • Contract negotiation for potential preservation transactions
  • Coordinating due diligence and feasibility analysis
  • Managing real estate transaction closings
  • Developing and executing property disposition strategies
  • Communicating with local preservation groups and state and federal funding sources

Required Knowledge, Skills and Experience
  • B.A./B.S. degree is required; an M.A., MBA or J.D. is preferred
  • At least three (3) years’ experience in real estate transactions, project management, or related work
  • Ability to establish excellent working relationships with partner organizations and teammates at the Trust and meet project deadlines
  • Superior writing skills
  • Willingness to travel
  • Land preservation experience is a plus
  • Interest in the preservation of American historic battlefield sites
  • Salary is commensurate with experience
