(Remote) Entertainment Writer: Movies & TV Shows

Freelance Entertainment Writer: Movie/TV Content

Screen Rant is the #1 entertainment website on the web, and our Movie/TV team is looking to recruit talented writers!

We are connecting with students and recent graduates who are interested in developing their skills, gaining experience, and making valuable industry connections. If you are a movie/TV enthusiast dedicated to staying up-to-date with the latest movie/TV news and rumours and you consider yourself to be an excellent writer, we want to hear from you.

As a freelance writer for Screen Rant, you will be able to set your own schedule and work as little or as much as you like. You will work with a dedicated team to create original and informative articles. We need you to be a self-starting, hard-working and dynamic writer who can produce compelling pieces while adhering to our website's strict publication standards.

If you have a passion for movies, TV and the wonderful world of "nerd culture", this is an opportunity to turn that passion into a stable writing job. While writers are encouraged to produce as much content as they can, this role would also be ideal for part-time applicants who are looking to supplement their studies or day jobs - we require 5 articles per week minimum, but those able to do more may be offered senior-level writing roles. This role is entirely remote and can be performed from any time zone. Please note that we are looking for 3 different kinds of writers: List writers, Features writers, and News writers. You must specify which of these categories you are applying for in your cover letter.

Requirements:

  • Mastery of the English language
  • Encyclopedic knowledge of popular movie/TV content, especially major franchises (DC, MCU, Star Wars, etc)
  • Superior writing skills
  • Willingness to accept and apply critical feedback
  • Ability to quickly learn (and master) the Screen Rant style and structure with few revisions and little editorial intervention required
  • Able to commit to a minimum of 5-10 articles per week

Nice-to-haves:

  • Editing experience
  • SEO experience
  • Image editing skills (Photoshop, Illustrator)

IN ORDER TO APPLY: Applicants must submit a resume and a cover letter explicitly detailing their level of familiarity with the topic advertised. Applications that do not include evidence of a passion for popular movie content will be automatically rejected. Please remember to also include whether you will be applying for a features, lists, or news position.

While we review all applications, only those selected will be contacted. Please note that the next steps in the application process involve a writing evaluation.
