Classroom Therapist

The Classroom Therapist provides therapeutic mental health, case management, and consultation services to children grades 6-12 and their families at James Baldwin Academy. The Therapist provides assessments, as well as individual, group, and/or family therapy, and assists in the creation and implementation of individual behavioral plans for each child. In addition, the therapist facilitates the understanding of clinical issues with the classroom staff and aids in creating a therapeutic milieu within a non-public school setting. 
 
Seneca supports clinicians towards licensure and beyond. We provide individual and group supervision, regular clinical case conferences, and licensure and renewal courses led by field experts. Expenses such as outside training or licensure fees can be mitigated through your clinical training stipend, and you will receive a $4000 salary increase upon getting licensed. Responsibilities
  • Conduct weekly individual and family therapy for each student
  • Create and monitor individual behavioral goals for each student
  • Monitor classroom behavioral interventions for each student
  • Provide case management and social services for each student
  • Monitor psychotropic medications
  • Complete all documentation required for each student
  • Develop initial, individual, and family therapy contacts for each student
  • Assist with crisis intervention and special activities as per schedule
  • Provide consultation to classroom staff
  • Attend weekly meetings; present cases to be discussed as pre-assigned
Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Social Work/Psychology/Counseling
  • Eligible to register with the California BBS
  • Experience working in day treatment or residential facilities is a plus!
  • Valid California Driver's License and insurability by Seneca's automobile insurance carrier
  • Clearance of TB test, fingerprints, and any other mandatory State/Federal licensing or certification requirements
  • Proof of COVID-19 vaccination
