ANHC Marketing and Communications VISTA

Since 1965, over 220,000 AmeriCorps members in the VISTA program have joined the fight against poverty by helping local organizations expand their capacity to make change. The VISTA program serves in each of the 50 U.S. states and in all U.S. territories.

Through capacity building activities such as fundraising, grant writing, research, and volunteer recruitment AmeriCorps members in the VISTA program serve in an office setting and gain experience and leadership skills. This opportunity prepares members for a life of service in the public, private, or nonprofit sector.

The Alaska Native Heritage Center (ANHC) is a living cultural center located in Anchorage, Alaska that promotes active observance of Alaska Native culture and traditions. Our mission is to preserve and strengthen the traditions, languages, and art of Alaska’s Native People through statewide collaboration, celebration, and education. We are based in Anchorage, Alaska, but serve as a statewide resource for Alaska Native people throughout Alaska. The Marketing & Communications VISTA will build capacity by increasing awareness of ANHC’s mission, community programs, and special offerings through engaged marketing campaigns, creative online content, newsletters, and more.

The Marketing and Communications VISTA will increase the community and general public’s awareness of the Alaska Native Heritage Center’s cultural programs, educational awareness courses, and other social enterprises. Major duties include creating online content for social media, newsletters, and the website; developing and implementing marketing campaigns; and developing written materials to share ANHC’s mission and inspire potential donors to support the work of the center.
