Data Analyst - Philanthropic Analytics

Summary
The Data Analyst, Philanthropic Analytics is responsible for supporting client projects and ensuring they move forward. The person in this position is responsible for the following: data analysis and building visualizations of data which can be clearly and effectively communicated to clients, coordinating project workflow and deliverables throughout the life of multiple client projects, communicating with and coordinating activities of multiple project teams, compiling project data, learning and performing data analytics, drafting client presentations and reports, drafting or editing correspondence, conducting occasional benchmarking, and other duties as required. The Data Analyst liaises across the firm and partners with DonorScape colleagues in visualizing DonorScape data within Tableau, Excel and PowerPoint slides for inclusion and delivery in client reports.

Data Analysis
  • Extract appropriate internal and external data from websites, databases and/or other sources
  • Utilize established templates to transform, analyze, and report the data through relevant tables and charts
  • Provide custom analysis in collaboration with consultants and senior staff as required
  • Translate data analysis and visualizations into client-ready reports and presentations
  • Provide meticulous ongoing quality assurance of data, analysis, reports, presentations and other deliverables to ensure correct, complete and relevant results
  • Include work colleagues in best practice advances
  • Share knowledge in technical skill areas with work colleagues, making a positive change and measurable difference to GG+A and client projects.

Project Support/Management
  • Provide coordination to client team projects under the direction of the lead project consultant(s);
  • Follow up with clients, colleagues, and vendors to ensure timely completion of projects and throughput of workflow
  • Assist in developing final reports and presentations, assuring the firm's best-in-class quality standards.
  • Prepare and maintain timelines, organizational charts, and project spreadsheets
  • Collaborate and communicate with team members
  • Discuss project deadlines with other GG+A colleagues as part of the project team and ensure that work is prioritized appropriately
  • Manage time efficiently to ensure availability to meet project team’s expectations for work assignments
  • Ensure deliverables follow GG+A style, format, and best practices’ standards.
  • Take proactive role in communicating assignment deadlines to team members and ensuring deliverables are prepared and submitted within determined timeframe
  • Provides administrative support on study projects, including drafting self-study/request for materials documents; developing study manuals with timelines and draft collateral materials; assisting in the development of questionnaires; coordinating documents; assisting with itineraries, background, and interview materials; and providing overall coordination of tasks for study projects

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree required, graduate education in a quantitative field, social science research, information sciences or related field is highly desirable
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience with at least 1-year direct experience in project/program support
  • Experience and demonstrated proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite
  • Working knowledge of MS Excel (formulas, v-lookups, pivot table, charts etc.) required
  • Experience with Tableau (visualizations, crosstabs, dashboards etc.) preferred
  • Experience in higher education, nonprofit, or fundraising preferred
  • Experience programming survey software, such as Qualtrics, preferred
  • Demonstrated experience supporting projects or programs (can be from academic setting)
  • Deep commitment to GG+A mission and extraordinary work ethic

  • Occasional out-of-town travel may be required, though the staff member will work primarily from GG+A’s headquarters in downtown Chicago
