Facilities Engineer

The Naval Nuclear Laboratory is seeking a highly motivated Facilities Engineer to join our team in Niskayuna, NY!

The Facilities Staff Engineer will work directly with the Operations & Maintenance Management team and will be responsible for organizing and leading compliance review meetings with site management, development of the organizational self assessment, lead on knowledge management, coordination of subdivision training (to include development of training plans, incorporation of lessons learned and information from the subdivision surveillance program, and execution of awareness drills), and develop, monitor, and assess the Operations & Maintenance surveillance program. The selected individual will also attend all management staff meetings, support Facilities Council meetings as needed, and work on special projects as assigned.

Required Skills *

Advanced:
  •    BS degree in engineering or Bachelor's degree in a science related field from an accredited college or university and a minimum of four years of relevant experience; or
  •    MS degree in engineering or Master's degree in a science related field from an accredited college or university and a minimum of two years of relevant experience; or
  •    Currently or previously NPE qualified or CTE/ACRS and one year of EOOW in the Nuclear Operations Program; or
  •    Watch Instructor and Refueling Facility Area Refueling Engineer and one year as SRE
 
Senior:
  •    BS degree in engineering or Bachelor's degree in a science related field from an accredited college or university and a minimum of six years of relevant experience; or
  •    MS degree in engineering or Master's degree in a science related field from an accredited college or university and a minimum of four years of relevant experience; or
  •    Currently or previously Shift Supervisor Part I qualified or EDO and two years as EOOW in the Nuclear Operations Program; or
  •    Three years as SRE plus Watch Instructor and Refueling Facility Area Refueling Engineer and Fuel and Barrier Shift Supervisor (ECF only), or SRE qualified and six years of experience
 
*The ability to qualify as a radiation or contamination worker is required for both levels
 
Preferred Skills

  • Understanding of Knolls Site facility and infrastructure
  • Experience in plant operations and maintenance
  • Experience as a functional area lead
  • Understanding of project management principles
  • Experience with regulations and policy
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel
