Paid Internship- Nonprofit Digital Marketing

Accepting Applications For Spring Semester Internship Until December 31st

The Camphill Association of North America is a membership organization representing 17 nonprofit therapeutic communities and schools in the U.S., Canada, and Colombia. Each Camphill community is uniquely designed to meet the needs of children, youth or adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities through community life, the arts, holistic therapies, and nurturing the land.

The Coworker Development Office (CDO) at the Association supports each Camphill community's Service Year Volunteer recruitment efforts through digital marketing and outreach. We are a two-person (1 FT & 1 PT) marketing team plugged into a much larger network of development professionals.

OVERVIEW

The Camphill Association’s Coworker Development Office is offering a paid marketing internship to applicants with strong writing and editing skills. The intern will join our marketing team and help us enhance our website by adding blog posts and coworker profiles. Candidates with some basic design video editing experience will be given preference.

This is a learning environment; we don't expect you to know everything! Applicants with related educational and/or work experience are preferred, but we will train the right person who is enthusiastic, dedicated, and ready to learn.

TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

This is a twelve-week internship with the possibility to extend. We will work with the right candidate to set a start date in January or February, depending on their availability.  Hours are mostly flexible, but the role requires 5-10 hours per week at $15/hr.

In this role, you will:
  • Lay out and post photo-rich stories to the blog using Wordpress (drag and drop - no coding required). Design experience will come in handy here.
  • Gather and edit (as needed) existing articles and stories for our blog
  • Compile content from social media posts and community newsletters, stitching them together into longer blog posts to appeal to potential volunteers.
  • Write alt-text/image descriptions for photos uploaded to the blog
  • Interview alumni (and some current) coworkers. Write and post coworker profiles to our website
  • Meet with the team over Zoom 1-2x per week (depending upon amount of guidance needed)
  • Visit one or more nearby Camphill communities before (or in the first month) of the internship

To start off, we will provide you with all the pre-written and edited materials and guidance needed to accomplish this task. Once you have learned how to use Wordpress and developed awareness of our guidelines and content style, you’ll move onto editing and doing your own interviewing and writing.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Must have strong writing and editing skills (in English)
  • Must have confidence using or learning drag and drop web design platforms (ex.Wordpress, Squarespace, Wix, etc.) and Google Docs
  • Must be available to meet during usual business hours
  • Must be able to work independently and as part of a team
  • Must have your own computer and reliable, fast internet
  • Must be able to travel once to a Camphill community (unless you're an alum!)

WHAT YOU’LL GAIN FROM THIS INTERNSHIP

  • Introduction to website design and build skills
  • Marketing strategy and copy-writing basics
  • If your internship is extended (budget dependent), we can provide you with additional tasks based on your skills and interests.
