Data Science Manager, Optimization
As the Data Science Manager - Optimization, you will provide technology leadership and partner with cross-functional teams to develop and guide our market bidding and dispatch products. You will be able to identify the most impactful projects, proactively remove impediments, and successfully drive towards key initiatives. You are skilled at mentorship and coaching, and passionate about growing other leaders. Building and maintaining strong relationships and confidence with both customers and business leaders are critically important responsibilities for this role.
Key responsibilities include:
- Lead, manage and mentor a team of Optimization Engineers working on bidding battery storage and renewable assets into energy markets and solving unit-commitment models
- Translate program and market rules into asset scheduling and dispatch optimization models
- Collaborate with forecasting team to define requirements for generation of probabilistic Energy, Ancillary Service and other electricity market price forecasts
- Investigate, evangelize and help implement software development best practices in optimization and bidding applications
- Work with Software Engineering, product and forecasting teams to design, deploy monitor and improve optimization and bidding model performance
- Establish and communicate best practices and standards in engineering and cybersecurity to ensure best in class operations
- Expand team through hiring as needed
