Research Data Analyst II Bioinformatics

Summary
The Research Data Analyst II will be working closely with Dr. Brooke Fridley and other faculty in Moffitt’s Department of Bio2.

Position Highlights:
  • The Research Data Analyst II (Bioinformatics) will be responsible for conducting bioinformatics or statistical analyses requiring 2 years of experience programming in R, Python, SAS, or some other statistical software package under supervision of Principal Investigators from the Gastrointestinal Oncology (GI) Program.

The Ideal Candidate:
  • Familiarity with Next Generation sequencing
  • Familiarity with other high-throughput bioinformatics data
  • Familiarity with high dimensional data wrangling
  • Familiarity with analysis techniques including machine learning, parallelization, and out-of-memory computation in a cluster environment, image processing, and high dimensional data visualization.
  • Familiarity with tidyverse, ggplot2, shiny, R package development, python and computing on a high performance computer cluster (linux).
  • Have a working knowledge of cloud-based architecture and software engineering skills needed for the creation of IT infrastructure, such as dashboards and data visualization tools and clinical trial matching and personalized medicine capabilities.
 
Responsibilities:
  • Works closely with the Principal Investigator(s) to manage and analyze data
  • Design, develop and deploy high performance computational software in the cluster to facilitate research to the PI.
  • Develop and utilize appropriate software methodologies for emerging genomic technologies
  • Work with systems and solutions architects to coordinate development efforts throughout the data lifecycle
  • Benchmark new tools for high dimensional data analysis as well as develop and apply novel analytic approaches to existing molecular epidemiology data
  • Aid in the design and maintenance of a cloud-based curated DataMart for the GI Oncology Program and fulfill honest broker/concierge level responsibilities.

Credentials and Qualifications:
  • Master’s degree in bioinformatics, biostatistics, epidemiology, or related field with 2 years of relevant experience with statistical packages is required.
  • Or Bachelor's Degree in biostatistics, bioinformatics, computer science, computational biology, epidemiology or related field and 7 years of relevant experience with statistical packages is required
