We have a great career opportunity available for a Human Resources Generalist in our Columbia, South Carolina headquarters. 
 
The Human Resources Generalist serves the agency in all aspects of recruitment, employment, benefits administration, classification and compensation, employee relations, records management, and related areas in the Human Resources Department. Develops and carries out recruitment and retention plan for the agency. Provides onboarding and orientation to new employees. Coordinates the employee performance management program. Serves as the Workers Compensation Coordinator. Ensures the Agency’s recruitment and hiring practices reaches diverse applicants and is compliant with the Equal Employment Opportunity and Affirmative Action (EEO/AA) plan.
 
The candidate must have extensive knowledge of recruitment and retention strategies, equal employment opportunities, laws and regulations, classification and compensation administration, and benefits/wellness programs. They must have knowledge of principles and practices of human resources management and knowledge of federal laws and state regulations affecting human resources management. The candidate must have excellent customer service skills with the ability to interact courteously and effectively with internal and external customers. They must have excellent organizational skills, attention to detail and the ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines under limited supervision.

Major Responsibilities:
·        Complete employee paperwork for benefits administration, retirement, and agency specific forms.
·        Perform recruitment of new positions for the agency to include posting open positions, reviewing applications, preparing interview questions, serving on interview panels, and conducting background and reference checks on perspective candidates. Ensure practices attract a diverse pool of applicants.
·        Oversee the onboarding process to welcome new employees and prepare them for their positions.
·        Coordinate the Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA) program for the agency.
·        Develop procedures and policies regarding human resources, using best practices.
·        Ensure the agency implements recruitment and hiring practices which meet Equal Employment Opportunity and Affirmative Action (EEO/AA) objectives. Complete associated reporting.
·        Coordinate the administration of the Employee Performance Management System (EPMS) programs.
·        Coordinate employee training and development plans.
·        Serve as the agency’s Time/Leave Administrator.
·        Assist with employee relations issues.
·        Complete a variety of reporting, including EEO, unemployment, and worker’s compensation.
·        Manage various employee engagement activities.
·        Analyze needs and resources and recommend and communicate solutions effectively.
·        Exercise judgment and discretion in applying and interpreting a variety of policies and procedures.
·        Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing with all levels of staff and management.
·        Establish and maintain effective working relationships.
 
 
Are you Qualified?
 
Minimum Requirements:   
·        A bachelor’s degree and relevant human resources experience. Must be a notary or have the ability to become a notary.
 
Preferred Qualifications:
·        Five (5) years of professional human resources experience.
·        Experience working with the SC Enterprise Information System (SCEIS).
·        Experience with SC State benefits and retirement.
 
 
Hiring Range:          $41,777 - $59,537
