Who we are:
Rescuing Leftover Cuisine is a 501(c)3 nonprofit food recovery organization that aims to prevent consumable excess food from going to waste by diverting it to feed people instead of landfills! We match available food from businesses to the food needs of nearby human service agencies (HSAs) that provide necessary food assistance for people with zero or low income of all ages, races, cultures and religions. Our volunteer “Rescuers” use our food rescue app to transport the food, at no cost to the recipient organization. 
About this Internship Opportunity:
RLC is seeking a passionate intern who is committed to social, environmental and local action to help enhance RLC’s social media presence in Massachusetts and Rhode Island and explore other marketing and PR outlets. This is an opportunity to develop and strengthen valuable skills while making a real and sustainable impact in Massachusetts. Flexible hours (5-10 hours weekly). This is a part-time, unpaid internship with a minimum 3 month or 75 hour commitment (a longer commitment is ideal). We welcome the opportunity to work with your school or school’s foundation to provide school credit or a stipend. Fully remote position.
Responsibilities:
  • Manage Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn and TikTok accounts for RLCMA and RLCRI.
  • Update listings on various volunteer recruitment websites (TeenLife, VolunterMatch, MeetUp, college virtual bulletin boards, etc.)
  • Respond to inquiries on web platforms in a timely manner
  • Manage Mailchimp Audiences
  • Research, create & submit press releases, blog and newsletter pieces and pitches (for speaking engagements, etc.)
  • Research & initiate trade show opportunities, networking events, pro bono marketing, newsletter and PR opportunities
  • Other related tasks as assigned

Skills & Qualifications: 
  • Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel), Google drive, docs & forms
  • Advanced social media skills
  • Strong organizational, oral and written communication skills 
  • Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize, and work independently without supervision
  • Energetic and eager to tackle new projects and ideas
Bonus qualifications: proficient with Mailchimp; background in journalism and/or writing; creative
