Do you want to be a part of South Dakota's economic success? Then consider joining the Governor's Office of Economic Development (GOED) as a Partner Relations Representative covering the northeast region of South Dakota.
As a Partner Relations Representative, you will work to expand South Dakota's economy by connecting with economic development partners and coordinating state-wide efforts to help businesses grow and prosper. You will travel regularly across the state to meet with economic developers and community leaders.
Primary responsibilities includes creating and maintaining good relationships with all organizations that relate to economic development such as state agencies, local economic developers, utilities, technical colleges, universities, railroads, federal agencies, lenders, etc. The Partner Relations Representative will also serve to connect economic developers, including GOED's business development team, to this partner network to move business expansion projects forward. They will also represent our office to a variety of audiences across the state. 
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
  • partner or government relations experience;
  • economic development experience;
  • project management experience;
  • a network of economic development contacts.
Knowledge of:
  • principles and practices of finance and economics;
  • federal, state, community, and private resources useful in providing service to businesses;
  • roles of numerous organizations and government agencies and how they impact economic development.
Skills to:
  • effectively use the Microsoft suite of tools such as Outlook, Excel, Word, etc.
Abilities to:
  • work both independently and in a team environment;
  • create, develop, maintain and leverage relationships;
  • communicate effectively and deliver persuasive presentations;
  • organize time and resources to achieve goals and objectives;
  • effectively identify and pursue opportunities in economic development;
  • speak in a public setting;
  • think outside of the box to encourage economic growth;
  • travel extensively (in-state and out-of-state).
