As a Data Engineer Intern, you will partner with software engineers, data analysts and subject-matter experts to design and deliver new dashboards, customizations, integrations and data migrations that support better business decisions and identify cost cutting opportunities. The Data Engineering Intern will assist in creating software infrastructure, pipelines, and tools to digest large volumes of data that will get exposed to all aspects of the business. Our ideal candidate is a collaborative team player, a good communicator, self-motivated and can execute and problem-solve seamlessly. We are looking for a candidate to take datasets and build the tools, processes, and systems to translate that data into insights.

Responsibilities:
  • Assist with the development and review of technical and end user documentation including ETL/ELT workflows, research, and data analysis
  • Interact with business users, technical teams and management to understand business requirements providing analysis and recommendations for possible solutions
  • Analyze and document existing workflows, data flows, business rules, and logic for manually executed processes.
  • Work with various business teams to develop SQL processes and procedures to automate any existing manual processes
  • Support the maintenance of data definitions, and the mappings between various data sources.
  • Create clear documentation to allow reusability and maintenance of code
  • Support data engineering and operations as needed.
Skills:
  • Knowledge and some experience designing and building datasets for visual reports, dashboards, KPI scorecards and analytic reporting
  • Capable of understanding business requirements and developing data models to be ingested by Excel, Power BI, and Tableau
  • Experience building data pipelines, products and tools that enable our Data Scientists, Data Analysts, Business Intelligence Engineers and Executives to solve challenging use cases
  • Knowledge writing applications in Python using different libraries like Pandas, Pytorch, NumPy, Sci-kit learn and Matplotlib
  • An understanding of transactional and big data design patterns
  • Familiarity with the software development lifecycle paired with an interest in defining/documenting business processes and software requirements for technology initiatives
  • Technical knowledge regarding data models, database design & development, data mining and analysis
  • Familiarity with various database querying languages, report development tools and techniques




Requirements


Requirements:
  • Degree or is working towards a degree in Information Systems, Data Science, Computer Science, or related field.
  • Must have Hands-on experience with ETL/ELT, Data Warehouse practices, RDBMS & NoSQL databases
  • Understanding of front-end technologies, such as JavaScript, HTML5, CSS3, ASP .Net core, Blazor, PHP or Vue
  • Knowledge and experience creating datasets for ingestion into Excel, Power BI or Tableau
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Azure platform preferred

Not required but a big plus:
  • Understanding of Machine Learning using Python, Pandas, PySpark, Spark, TensorFlow, or Pytorch
  • Prior internship or co-op experience preferred
  • Working knowledge of PHP and Vue
  • Working knowledge of DAX
