Vice President - Treaty Reinsurance

JOB SUMMARY:

Senior account executive who is highly sought after by reinsurance intermediaries and relied upon by SN management to develop and provide solutions for insurance company reinsurance purchases.
Responsible for the production, selection, underwriting, processing, retention, profitability and other analysis of the Treaty Reinsurance (TRe) portfolio.

Participate in developing and executing Tactical Plans.
Increase SN TRe’s visibility as a valued and respected reinsurance provider.
Develop and maintain productive relationships with select reinsurance intermediaries, other sources, and senior management at ceding companies.
Uphold the excellent reputation of the corporation as its representative in the reinsurance community. Attend annual PCI and NCCI conventions in a production/account management mode.
Secure most favorable treaty terms for SN while growing the portfolio. Developing and providing client needs oriented reinsurance products. Coordinating and performing underwriting audits and visitations with clients. Critique written TRe accounts and contract language.
Preparing and presenting Deal Memos to PC oversight committee. Secure and document appropriate approvals from management.
Keep abreast of market trends with a keen sense for being opportunistic. Maintain comprehensive knowledge of our competition.
Work with the Sr. Vice President – Treaty Reinsurance, Department underwriters, support staff, and other internal departments on the establishment and implementation of procedures, automation, etc.
Assure appropriate coordination with other SN business units including management, Actuarial, Claim, Underwriting, Ceded Reinsurance, Finance, IS, and Business Development.
Assure that quality and standards of service are maintained to the level expected of all SN business units.
Update the Treaty Reinsurance Business Plans and assuring compliance.
Establish and maintain comprehensive files for all accounts, documenting all important day to day communications and transactions in accordance with proper record retention guidelines.
SOX compliance.
Manage workload and priorities effectively.
Assist with coordination and direction of Department activities, including those with oversight committees for pricing and contract review.
Assure proper and prompt execution of all written contracts and endorsements.
 

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES: 

Participate, when requested, in other corporate reinsurance decisions.
Periodically providing progress reports to the President, Sr. Vice President – Treaty Reinsurance and others as required.
Assure proper premium booking by Finance Department. Assist with reconciliation and collection efforts when appropriate.
Review accounting statements submitted on written TRe accounts. Assure accuracy of monthly Finance report.
Distribute SN financial information to brokers.
TRe staffing development - attracting, retaining and training Department staff. Promoting a cohesive Department and acting as a mentor.
