Software Engineer – R & D (Sony Innovation Studios)

Software Engineer

Sony Innovation Studios, located at the heart of the vibrant Sony Pictures studio lot in Culver City, is looking for a motivated and passionate Software Engineer for our Core Technology and R&D team, to develop next-generation volumetric and virtual production technologies. We are looking for someone who has a passion for advanced algorithms, image processing and problem solving to support research and product development, including tools, pipeline, and real-time applications.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Research, innovate, and develop next-generation volumetric technologies
  • Design, implement, and test front-facing GUI applications
  • Research, design, implement, and integrate core processing algorithms
  • Work closely with cross functional teams and collaborate with different R&D teams
  • Write clean, professional, well-documented code

What We Are Looking For

  • B.Sc. in Computer Science or equivalent experience
  • 3+ years developing C++ applications as part of a professional team
  • Strong C++ programming skills
  • Strong understanding of math and algorithms
  • Experience with Python and similar languages
  • Experience with image processing algorithms and libraries
  • Experience with multi-threaded programming and optimization techniques
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Self-motivated and proactive with excellent problem-solving skills
  • Committed to code quality

Bonus:

  • Knowledge of computer vision and machine learning
  • Experience working in Linux environments
  • Experience designing and developing real-time software
  • Experience with Unreal Engine and/or other proprietary engines
