Philanthropy / Individual & Institutional Giving Summer Intern

The Philanthropy / Individual and Institutional Giving Intern will have the opportunity to gain real work experience in a busy Philanthropy office.

Duties include assisting with stewardship and cultivation of high level donors; making VIP arrangements; assisting with membership recruitment and retention; staffing a Member information table; composing member communications; assisting with acknowledgement and fundraising mailings; coordinating audience tracking efforts at events and at the outdoor Henry J. Leir stage; gathering documentation and conducting research for grant reports and applications; reviewing foundation and grant information in our donor database; assisting in grant writing; assisting in executing Member events; leading historic tours; and helping with other daily functions of a Philanthropy office. In addition, this intern will have the opportunity to take on a special project in the Philanthropy department, informed by their personal interests in the field.
Candidates should possess strong verbal and writing skills, a professional and confident phone manner, and must be flexible, team-oriented, positive, detail-oriented, able to manage multiple projects concurrently, and discreet in handling sensitive donor-related information. Proficiency in Word, Excel and internet research is also important. Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills are a must, and a desire to enter the arts fundraising field is preferred.
