Philanthropy / Special Events Intern

The Philanthropy / Special Events Internship offers an opportunity to gain real work experience in a busy Philanthropy office and work on multiple events of varying sizes.

The Special Events Intern will work directly with the Special Events Manager as well as with the Philanthropy team in planning, supporting, and executing many fundraising and special event activities for the Festival from early June through early September, including the annual Jacob’s Pillow Gala. 
Duties include logistical and creative planning, including communicating with vendors, staff, volunteers, partners, artists and performers; ordering supplies; attending planning meetings and discussions; and event implementation. This includes greeting the public and answering questions; coordinating event set-up and clean-up; supporting vendors, partners, artists, and performers by addressing equipment, technical, and other needs; and assisting with pulling lists, organizing donor records, and entering information into our donor database. Additional Festival responsibilities include assisting with daily functions of a Philanthropy office including mailings and daily interaction with our donor database, audience tracking, distributing programs, and welcoming patrons. In addition, this intern will have the opportunity to take on an independent project based on their personal interests in Philanthropy or Special Events.
Interns require strong verbal and writing skills, a professional and confident phone manner, flexible and positive, detail-oriented, able to manage multiple projects concurrently, creatively solve problems, ability to work independently and as a team. Proficiency in Word, Excel and internet research, excellent interpersonal and customer service skills, and discreet handling of sensitive donor-related information are a must. A desire to enter the arts fundraising field is preferred.
