School Programs Intern

Three School Programs Interns work with The School staff to coordinate and implement five onsite, professional advancement programs involving an international roster of up to 40 artist faculty and 118 dancers, as well as operations and logistics for Pillow affiliated intensives being held worldwide in partnership with peer institutions.

Interns gain hands-on experience in the administrative, financial, and logistical functions needed to successfully deliver unique, in-depth programs led by a world-class, international Artist Faculty. Working in the state-of-the art Perles Family Studio, interns interact daily with the Artist Faculty and a student body of accomplished dance artists who are focused on the creation of new work and sharing this work with weekday studio observers and Festival audiences each Saturday. Coordinating meet-ups between students and School Sponsors, career-building discussions with Festival companies, and studio observation visits for groups and the public are weekly activities that involve collaborative work with other departments. Interns may coordinate and moderate the use of Zoom and other tools for online teaching and work with School staff and Artist Faculty to finalize their curricular plans, which may include preparing media for appropriate viewing by dancers and supporting dancers in uploading videos for Artist Faculty viewing.
Responsibilities will include: creating, assembling, and distributing program information to Artist Faculty, program dancers, and visitors; scheduling, executing, and summarizing program curricular activities; and diligent maintenance of office records, payment reports, correspondence, and data collection. Interns lead program orientations; supervise campus studio preparedness for daily classes and rehearsals; and help coordinate an annual luncheon for School Sponsors, Master Classes led by Festival Artists, and School showings held on the iconic outdoor stage, as well as Jacob’s Pillow’s Season Opening Gala in June.
Candidates must have a dance background, an interest in dance training and education initiatives, and the computer skills to manage documents, spreadsheets, and conduct Internet research. Professional skills needed include being detail-oriented, organized, able to keep track of multiple projects, meet deadlines, work independently and collaboratively, possess strong written, interpersonal, customer service, and problem-solving skills, and the ability to face challenges with a positive attitude. Two writing samples, maximum two pages in length each, are required with the intern application.
COVID full vaccination is required as a condition of employment for all staff, interns, and fellows.
