Regulatory Compliance and Legal

Our division prevents, detects and mitigates compliance, regulatory and reputational risk across the firm and helps to strengthen the firm’s culture of compliance. Compliance accomplishes these through the firm’s enterprise-wide compliance risk management program. As an independent control function and part of the firm’s second line of defense, Compliance assesses the firm’s compliance, regulatory and reputational risk; monitors for compliance with new or amended laws, rules and regulations; designs and implements controls, policies, procedures and training; conducts independent testing; investigates, surveils and monitors for compliance risks and breaches; and leads the firm’s responses to regulatory examinations, audits and inquiries. You'll be part of a team with members from a wide range of academic and professional backgrounds, such as law, accounting, sales, and trading. We look for those who possess sound judgment, curiosity, and are able to adapt to a changing regulatory landscape.
 
Control Room Responsible for preserving the integrity of the Firm's information barriers by monitoring and controlling the flow of confidential information between the Firm's private/advisory side businesses (e.g., Investment Banking, and Merchant Banking, Finance and Risk) and public side businesses (e.g., Securities, Asset Management, Private Wealth Management, and Global Investment Research). Additionally, the Control Room is tasked with staying close to banking transactions to ensure that all legal and policy restrictions are activated in a timely manner, as well as advising firm divisions dealing with trading and research as to the applicability of those restrictions.
 
Core Compliance Responsible for implementing and maintaining our integrated regulatory compliance program, which includes regulatory change management, policies, training, issue escalation and risk assessment.
 
Divisional Compliance Revenue and Federation-aligned functions that identify, assess, control, measure, monitor and report on compliance risks for their coverage areas.
 
Financial Crime Compliance (FCC) Coordinates Goldman Sachs’ enterprise-wide anti-money laundering (AML), sanctions, anti-bribery compliance and forensics surveillance efforts. The FCC team, which is composed of professionals with extensive law enforcement, regulatory, legal, compliance, forensic consulting, operations and business experience, administers an array of surveillances, due diligence and other control processes designed to identify potential money laundering, terrorist financing, bribery, securities fraud and other violations of the law.
 
Global Compliance Employee Services (GCES) Reviews Approves and administers requests for compliance with policies around employee-related matters, including personal trading, regulatory registration, private investments, outside activities, political contributions and activities, as well as criminal, legal and regulatory disclosures.
 
Global Compliance Testing Group (CTG) Tests the firm's compliance with policies, procedures, and controls and written supervisory and supervisory control procedures in connection with these expectations and requirements
 
Regional Regulatory Affairs Regionally-aligned teams that support the firm’s revenue-producing divisions as well as the firm’s Federation divisions in specific jurisdictions.
 
Regulatory Practice Group (RPG) Manages the firm's interactions with US banking regulators, securities regulators and supervisory authorities globally. RPG is also responsible for managing and mitigating potential negative behavior and making sure our people and managers are equipped to understand the impact of their actions.
 
Surveillance Analytics Develops, tests and implements surveillance models across all Global Compliance groups and creates investigative tools to help compliance officers conduct forensic and other reviews. Additionally, the group implements strategies to improve the quality of data that Compliance uses to conduct daily responsibilities.
 
Basic Qualifications:
-      Bachelor’s Degree
 
Desired Skills:
-      Advanced MS Excel and PowerPoint skills (pivot tables, experience with large data sets, proficient in data manipulation and presentation)
-      Strong communicator, comfortable in presenting and explaining analysis
-      Possess a general understanding of the current regulatory environment and financial markets and/or securities regulation and rules
-      Knowledge/experience with financial products and services
-      Ability to work as a member of a team in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment
-      Ability to multi-task on several different assignments/projects
-      Interest in working on a global team dealing with global businesses
