Multimedia Specialist

Position Summary

Produces high quality videos, photography and other visual and audio content for the Office of External Affairs that showcase Weill Cornell Medicine’s excellence in research, student education and clinical care. 


Job Responsibilities

  • Produces high-quality videos in a variety of styles, including but not limited to social media, editorial purposes, traditional media, and donor presentations.
  • Researches stories, plans filming schedules, interviews subjects (e.g. students, faculty, patients, leadership, donors); prepares project proposals, story treatments and executive briefs.
  • Produces high-quality photography for various WCM publications and web properties. Takes an active role in the planning and execution of photo shoots for key editorial and development communications priorities.
  • Hires, manages, trains, and advises multimedia vendors. Provides on-site support for campus shoots. Escorts vendors on shoots as needed.
  • Post-produces video and photography in tandem with freelance vendors. Provides video rough cut notes, advises on story/branding, and chooses photo selects. Working with the Manager of Multimedia Content, guides projects through leadership approval.
  • Oversees digital asset management. Backs up, organizes, and catalogs multimedia assets on in-house servers and cloud-based digital asset management system (Webdam). Provides training and administrative support for Webdam.
  • Coordinates the measurement of multimedia analytics. Uses data to refine house content style and subject selection to optimize audience engagement. Prepares summary reports and slides as needed for planning and leadership.
  • Coordinates with internal teams on distribution schedules, story ideation, editing, and publishing final assets on institutional platforms (e.g. YouTube, Vimeo, websites, Flickr, social media). Oversees video delivery and playback at events.
  • Working with Manager of Multimedia Content, ensures creation/oversight of multimedia production standards within the department and throughout WCM. Fields requests for assets, provides vendor referrals, and advises best practices and location guidelines.
  • Assists in management of digital signage and installations around campus as necessary. Curates and updates visual content; works with external vendors to ensure timely repairs and optimal performance.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.


Education

  • Associate's Degree


Experience

Bachelor’s degree is preferred.
At least 3 years of related experience.
Experience shooting & producing multimedia content.
Experience editing video.
Experience editing photography.
Experience organizing and managing multimedia assets.
Experience in a large organization desired.
Familiarity with healthcare organizations/biomedical sector preferred.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong storytelling skills and a developed visual style.
  • Dependable and proactive team player with experience producing visual content with little supervision.
  • Familiarity with online platforms (YouTube, Vimeo, social media platforms).
  • Familiarity with Adobe Creative Cloud tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to learn new skills quickly.
  • Superior customer service/client relations skills.
