Research Assistant I - Antiviral Drug Discovery Programs

POSITION TITLE: Research Assistant I - Antiviral Drug Discovery Programs 
 
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Calibr global health team is seeking a highly motivated individual to support antiviral drug discovery programs. Under this role, the ideal candidate will work in a team environment to support the execution of key high-throughput assays, develop new in vitro assays, and maintain cell culture lines.
 
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  • Perform general lab duties
  • Tissue culture and preparation of media and reagents
  • Compound handling and plate inventory
  • Develop in vitro assays for BSL2-level viruses to enable drug discovery flowcharts
  • Execute high-throughput assays against for screening campaigns and routine SAR profiling
  • Data analysis and lab notebook documentation
  • The position requires great attention to detail, troubleshooting capability and flexibility to adapt to a fast-paced environment.
REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor of Science in biology, biochemistry, microbiology or related field
  • 1-5 years' laboratory experience is preferred
  • Experience with mammalian cell tissue culture is preferred
  • Experience with cell-based and biochemical assays using methods such as imaging, luminescence, fluorescence and absorbance in high-density formats and/or experience working with viruses is a bonus
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills
  • Letter of recommendation and/or at least one professional reference is required.
COMPENSATIONSalary is commensurate with experience.
