SuitUp Summer Program Contractor

Position: Summer Program Contractor & Competition Host
Location: U.S./Remote Available
Full-Time / Part-Time: Full-Time Contract from June 6, 2022 through August 19, 2022***
# of Hours: ~40 hours per week (Monday through Friday, 9am - 5:30pm EST)
Paid/Unpaid: Paid—$500/week

Overview of SuitUp
Founded in 2014, SuitUp is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that increases career awareness for all students through innovative business plan competitions. SuitUp organizes business competitions for corporate volunteers where employees help students solve a problem for a real company, like creating a new product for Nike or a new feature for Snap Inc that helps to solve a community problem. Since inception, SuitUp has hosted competitions for corporate partners such as ViacomCBS, Snap Inc., Goldman Sachs, NBCUniversal, LinkedIn and many others, organizing events for over 8,500 volunteers and impacting more than 12,000 students.

The Opportunity

SuitUp is seeking a Summer Program Contractor who will facilitate our dynamic business competitions with students and corporate volunteers across the country. This individual will be tasked with organizing and executing approximately 20 - 25 events with corporate partners and select youth partners.

Our Program Team hosts are dynamic, organized, result-oriented, driven individuals that love “playing to a crowd” and can inspire both volunteers and students to have amazing experiences with SuitUp’s entrepreneurship competitions. 

This role would report directly to SuitUp’s Program Director and will receive mentorship from current Program Managers. 

Key Accountabilities 

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Working with the Program Team to understand all of the pre-planning that has taken place including key stakeholders and event context
  • Leading and facilitating competitions in school, company, or virtual settings (60-100 people events) 
  • Providing a quality experience for school and corporate partners to ensure repeated long term engagement 
  • Preparing competition materials and creating virtual event pages on SuitUp’s community platform (Bevy) 
  • Meeting with stakeholders to coordinate logistics and provide resources to make their event a success
  • Identifying key volunteers within events that can help support SuitUp’s growth and expansion
  • Collecting and analyzing all survey data from events and creating company impact reports
  • Attending weekly company-wide and team meetings
 
Required Skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work with corporate volunteers (ages 21 to 65) and middle/high school students (ages 12 to 18) in a client-facing role
  • Strong comfortability with virtual education platforms (i.e. Zoom, Bevy, Google Suite, etc.)
  • Excellent public speaking, written/oral communication and presentation skills
  • Self-starter with the ability to take initiatives and run with tasks independently
  • Organized, energetic and positive with natural leadership qualities
  • A passion for education and increasing career awareness for students in low-income communities
  • Demonstrates an inspirational attitude that contributes to a positive team environment
  • Ability to learn and adapt quickly in a fast-paced environment
  • Skilled at multitasking and meeting multiple deadlines concurrently
  • Solution-orientation and ability to problem-solve 
  • Excellent skills in operating computers and various software packages including Microsoft Office (Powerpoint and Word)

  • Previous work experience in education, youth development or event planning is preferred. This is the ideal role for a former teacher.
