GENERAL SUMMARY/ OVERVIEW STATEMENT

A research technician (Level I) position is available at the Massachusetts General Hospital, Harvard Medical School in the laboratory of Dr. Allen Steere. The laboratory conducts translational research with a focus on human immune studies in patients with Lyme disease or rheumatoid arthritis (RA). In Lyme arthritis, studies are aimed at the elucidation of infection-induced autoimmune responses in patients with post-infectious Lyme arthritis. In RA, the goal is to characterize immune reactivity to certain commensal bacteria that may shape autoimmune responses in joints, in an effort to understand causes of RA. Such knowledge will likely impact the diagnosis and treatment of this debilitating, chronic illness.
