Research Laboratory Supervisor

The Research Laboratory Supervisor is responsible for assisting with lab management and research in
two labs in the Program in Women’s Oncology (labs are adjacent and time can be split as needed).
Duties will include placing orders, managing the lab inventory, and comprehensively tracking received
orders and invoices, maintaining lab organization and ensuring lab safety protocols are followed,
including maintenance of two Chemical Hygiene Plans. Research related duties will include managing
the lab’s cell cultures using aseptic technique, and managing the lab’s mouse colonies, requiring
extensive mouse handling, husbandry, genotyping, and organization. Research duties may also include
assisting with experiments as needed including performing PCR, DNA and RNA extractions,
genotyping, western blotting, and immunohistochemistry. Other responsibilities will include presenting
data at lab meetings and scientific papers at journal clubs, and performing literature searches and
compiling information from these searches. Opportunities will be available to take more autonomy over
a specific project, assist with manuscript preparation, and present data at conferences.
Bachelors degree in biology or other related field required. Some lab experience is preferred, but will
train the right applicant. Demonstrated experience and application of molecular biology techniques.
Required attributes include excellent interpersonal and communication skills, strong attention to detail,
organized, self-starter, ability to juggle many different tasks, steady hands, experience with mouse
