Dorchester County Public Schools is currently accepting applications for a School Social Worker. Social Workers support student’s success in school by providing direct clinical case management services to students and their families; developing and managing the school based mental health partnerships; and providing consultative services to DCPS staff and parents. *** This position is grant funded. ***

DUTIES:
• Provides integrated, coordinated clinical case management services.
• Assesses student and family dynamics as related to school success.
• Participates in student services teaming and administrative meetings.
• Provides consultative and crisis management services for DCPS as directed.
• Maintains case documentation.
• Bi-weekly progress updates for the Therapeutic Support Program (TSP) rooms in the county.
• Weekly Therapeutic Support Program room visits.
• Provide therapeutic support for students in the Therapeutic Support Program rooms.
• Monitor and assist with student transition back to general education setting.
• Provide professional development for Therapeutic Support Program room staff.
• Be a linkage between TSP room and student home school.
• Advocates for children and families within the school setting and with outside agencies.
• Collaborates with community agencies to foster student success.
• Identifies and develops resources and services to meet community needs.
• Facilitates effective delivery of on-site resources and services.
• Participates in local/county organizations, representing the Community Agency School Services program goals and objectives.
• Performs other duties as assigned by the Supervisor of Social Workers.

QUALIFICATIONS:
• Eligible for and hold, prior to appointment, the Maryland State Department of Education Certification for School Social Worker in accordance with COMAR 13A.12.03.11 (Graduate social worker; Certified social worker; or Certified social worker — clinical).
• Master’s Degree in Social Work.
• Three (3) years’ experience as Social Worker, preferred.
• Three (3) years of behavioral experience, preferred.
• Demonstrated effective and accurate written and oral communication skills.
• Advanced familiarity of various computer applications and software is essential.
• Understanding of professional ethics and behavior.
• Self-directed and have the ability to develop and implement programs.

SALARY: Salary based on the Negotiated Agreement Between The Board of Education of Dorchester County and The Dorchester Educators - Teachers (7.5 hour duty day) Pupil Personnel Worker salary scale. The current minimum salary is: $60,936. This is a ten (10) month, plus 20 extra duty days, full-time benefited position.
