Camp K Kitchen Assistant

Pay: $12/hour
Seasonal

PROGRAM OVERVIEW:
  • Program: Camp K is an ACA Accredited Summer Residential Co-ed Camp
  • Location: Camp K is located in Copper Landing, AK on the Kenai Lake.
  • Dates: All Staff training begins in mid-May and continues through the camp season in early August.  
  • Shifts: Camp K staff reside on camp premises during all camp sessions. 
  • Activities: While at Camp K youth are provided hiking, boating activities, outdoor games, art building, target sports, outdoor living skills and team building; as well as horseback riding and river raft trips in nearby areas. 

POSITION DESCRIPTION:
This position supports the Kitchen Manager in a youth-focused Food Service program aimed at the provision of nutritious and appealing meals in a safe and clean environment while providing a high-quality camp experience for program participants, parents, and visitors. Kitchen assistants prepare meals using Camp K guidelines, keep kitchen inventory, practice heath/sanitation efforts, and help maintain Camp K kitchen equipment. Kitchen Assistants promote, encourage, and demonstrate Kid Size Values of caring, striving, and thriving while applying basic youth principles of communication, relationship development, respect for diversity and empowerment/involvement of youth when working with campers. You'll have a great opportunity to be a positive role model for the campers while living on Camp K in the Chugach National Forest with everyday opportunities to be off the grid, experience wildlife, and take in the epic beauty right outside your cabin door!  
 
QUALIFICATIONS
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent, is required.
  • Ability to acquire and maintain an Alaska Food Worker Card is required.
  • Current Adult/Pediatric CPR, AED & First Aid Certification from a nationally recognized provider, is required.
  • Must be eighteen (18) years of age or older to maintain compliance with regulatory and accrediting agencies.
  • Prior experience working with youth, preferably in a residential camp setting is preferred.
  • Experience working with diverse populations: multi-cultural, age, gender, etc.; experience with special needs population preferred.
  • Must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19
