Credit Analyst - Real Estate

The Citi Community Capital (CCC) Business within Citi’s Global Spread Products (“GSP”) Municipal Finance Division is seeking to hire an Affordable Multifamily Credit Analyst to join its Construction Asset Management team.

Job Responsibilities:
Evaluate and analyze the credit risk of CCC’s clients providing guaranties for construction loans through detailed financial statement analysis and collateral valuation to assess the guarantor’s financial strength to repay and/or complete construction. Day to day responsibilities include:
  • Develop credit analysis in the making of lending decisions on new credit approvals and loan extensions and monitor ongoing financial strength of sponsor through annual reviews of the financial statements.
  • Spreading and analyzing the financial statements for all guarantors providing credit support on CCC’s construction loans. Analysis includes an in-depth review of the balance sheet, cash flow statement, liquidity verification, schedule of contingent liabilities and performance of guarantor’s REO schedule of stabilized properties.
  • Preparing a high-level summary of the sponsor and guarantor’s operating history and overall credit worthiness and their ability to complete construction and/or repay principal and ongoing debt service.
  • Providing detailed explanations of material fluctuations in the year over year comparison of the guarantor’s financial statements.
  • Assist in monitoring financial covenant compliance by verifying adherence to the liquidity and/or net worth covenants, if applicable.
  • Develop and maintain financial background information on present and prospective clients.
  • Maintaining credit pipeline for new business, loan extensions and annual reviews that require updated credit analysis/
  • Participate in credit approval process and internal deal team calls.
  • Interacting professionally and promptly with the credit risk, asset management, underwriting and banking teams.
  • Assisting and participating in internal and external audits, as required.
  • Involvement in various special projects that support the Construction Asset Management group, as needed.
Qualifications
  • Undergraduate degree with emphasis in accounting, finance, business or economics.
  • Prior experience in in accounting, finance or financial analysis preferred (3-5 years)
  • Strong quantitative skills and established analytical ability as well as strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Highly organized individual able to manage multiple assignments at once under tight deadlines
  • Energetic individual who shows initiative, is a team player, and has a positive attitude to change
