GENERAL SUMMARY/ OVERVIEW STATEMENT:  
The Dunn Laboratory at the MGH Brain Tumor Research Center is seeking a highly motivated and talented individual to join our expanding Brain Tumor Immunology and Immunogenomics Team. The successful candidate will be expected to independently perform experimental work, maintain accurate records, conduct basic quantitative analysis, report experimental work to supervisor, present procedures and results to laboratory members and at conferences when appropriate. 
In this capacity, the Research Technologist (RT) manages and supervises daily and long-range operations of the research laboratory, and provides high-level organizational management of a fast-paced and complex cancer immunology laboratory. The RT handles scientific administration including animal research protocols, the regulatory safeguarding of human samples, and laboratory safety. The RT functions as the operations manager of the laboratory, enabling the PIs to more efficiently lead strategic scientific, educational, training, publication, and funding operations of the laboratory. 
 
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Maintains lab organization of orders/items/ as well as regular maintenance and calibration of lab equipment
Develops new and/or modifies and improves existing assay techniques, experimental protocols, or new procedures
Assists laboratory members in the execution of experimental approaches
Consults the literature and/or supervisor, as needed, to troubleshoot experiments
Assists in intracranial tumor implantation and immune studies in mice 
Prepares and maintains culture lines including tumor cell lines and T cell cultures
Assists with flow cytometry experiments 
Synthesizes and interprets results
Prepares written and verbal status reports
Uses statistical and graphic summaries
Attends weekly team meetings to discuss project execution and goals
Other related tasks as required
 
SKILLS/ABILITIES/COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:  
Must have experience working in a biological research laboratory including animal work
Must have experience with molecular biology techniques such as PCR 
Experience with flow cytometry is preferable
Must have excellent written, documentation and oral communication skills
Must have strong interpersonal, organizational and analytical skills and the ability to handle several tasks in a dynamic team environment 
Must possess ability to work independently and display initiative to introduce innovations to research study
Must have ability to prioritize tasks and set deadlines
 
 
EDUCATION: 
BA/BS required
 
EXPERIENCE:
Requires 3+ years directly related and progressively more responsible experience
 
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY
May serve as a team lead to lab assistants and Research Technicians
