ABOUT RLC:
Rescuing Leftover Cuisine is a 501(c)3 nonprofit food rescue organization that redistributes surplus food to feed people, not landfills. We match available food from businesses to the food needs of nearby organizations that provide necessary food assistance for people with zero or low income of all ages, races, cultures and religions. Our volunteer “Rescuers” use our food rescue technology to transport the food, at no cost to the recipient organization. 
ABOUT THIS POSITION:
This is an opportunity to develop and strengthen valuable skills while making a real and sustainable impact in Massachusetts and Rhode Island. As the Research Assistant, you will help RLC recruit Food Donor Partners, Nonprofit Food Recipient Partners and Volunteer “Rescuers” throughout Rhode Island and Massachusetts so we can significantly increase our social and environmental impact.
ABOUT YOU:
RLC is seeking an ambitious and outgoing Research Assistant who is committed to social, environmental and local action. This is a great opportunity for those seeking experience for any career that involves research and operations.
DETAILS:
  • This is a part-time, unpaid internship. We welcome the opportunity to work with your school or school’s foundation to provide school credit or a stipend. 
  • Start Date: 2022 Fall and Winter internship cycles available.
  • Flexible hours (5-10 or more hours weekly) with a minimum 12 week OR 60 hour commitment.
  • Fully remote position (Eastern Time preferred but not required).

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Brainstorm and research opportunities for: 
  • Volunteer recruitment (schools, businesses, etc.) 
  • Nonprofit partnerships (shelters, soup kitchens, etc.)
  • Food Donor partnerships (restaurants, hotels, etc.)
  • Research and organize up-to-date and impactful metrics, data, etc. related to social & environmental equity, justice, sustainability, etc.
  • Outreach to help recruit volunteers and nonprofit partners
  • Related data entry 
  • Other related responsibilities as assigned

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Proficient computer skills, including Google Suite (Docs, Presentations and Sheets)
  • Strong organizational, time management, oral and written communication skills
  • Creative and curious search and analytical skills with strong attention-to-detail and effective note-taking 
  • Self motivated with the ability to meet deadlines, prioritize, and work independently with minimal supervision
