P220155 - Coordinator of Business Affairs - Buffalo Educational Opportunity Center

Position Summary:
The Business Affairs Coordinator will be responsible for providing critical fiscal oversight of Buffalo Educational Opportunity Center, including guiding the budget/financial plan process, financial analysis, budget preparation and monitoring, and expenditure tracking for all BEOC funding sources.

Responsibilities also include, but are not limited to the following:
  • Assist Director of Budget and Administrative Services and Senior Staff in developing the Center’s functional unit budgets relative to State, University at Buffalo Foundation (UBF), and Research Foundation (RF) funded projects.
  • Represent the Director of Budget and Administrative Services in internal and external meetings as required or assigned.
  • State, RF, UBF, and expenditure analysis and reporting.
  • Completing journal transactions, budget revisions, and reconciling all accounts and departmental expenditures against University and SUNY financial reporting systems.
  • Provide necessary in-service training and staff development sessions to faculty and staff relative to the budget/financial plan, appropriate forms, University procurement/purchasing policies and procedures, and fiscal requirements.
  • Collaborate and develop internal Administrative Services forms with the Director of Budget and Administrative Services to improve work flow and promote the seamless environment for students, faculty, and staff as necessary.
  • Draft financial models, expense reports, and ad hoc reports as required or requested by the Director of Budget and Administrative Services.
  • Determine the appropriate means of procurement and purchasing mechanism.
  • Manage events held at the Buffalo Educational Opportunity Center.
  • Coordinate the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Program.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or related field from an accredited college or university.
  • 3 years of professional experience in business, financial management, or a related field.
  • Excellent organizational and ability to establish priorities and manage multiple demands and projects.
  • Ability to work effectively with all levels of faculty, staff, students and external constituents.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and to effectively present information in one-on-one and group situations.
  • Strong customer service, communication, analytical and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong working knowledge of best practices in the field.
  • Computer literate in Microsoft Office Suite, Outlook, and financial information systems.
  • Available to work occasional weekends and evenings.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master’s degree from an accredited college or university or professional certification or industry licensure with CPA or CMA designation.
  • 1 year of professional experience in business or financial management.
  • Background in a regulated public sector, adhering to multiple sets of rules, regulations and targets.
  • Experience working with external constituencies.
  • Experience in State and University higher education system applications.
