Liability Data Analyst

Job Summary
This position will extract insurance claims data from multiple sources, perform analysis, generate operational and financial reports and summarize findings for reporting to management. Data analytics includes claims management productivity, financial impact, forecasting and predicative analytics. Based on the results, this person will identify and recommend improvements to claims related information technology and business processes.
 
This position will be based in Parsippany, or elsewhere at the discretion of management.
 
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
•       Collects and analyzes insurance claims and related business data for operational productivity, financial results, and forecasting and predictive analytics.
•       Prepares and organizes analysis and reports into an understandable format for insurance claims’ management and its stakeholders.
•       Collaborates with the Insurance Claims governance and other ABG functions as necessary to achieve the data and reporting quality objectives. Works with TPAs, and ABG business and information technology to resolve data and reporting issues; including discrepancies in information and reporting formats.
•       Assist with periodic claim auditing both by compiling and analyzing the data and creating new processes around the claim data for internal auditing.
•       Prepares and analyzes internal reporting around the semiannual actuary results including but not limited to forecasting results, communicating and tracking results.

Qualifications (may vary by level)
Required Experience demonstrated expertise by having:
•       Produced comprehensive and accurate operational reporting both in detail and summary formats.
•       Extracted and organized data for usage in very large databases and conducting related research.
•       Translated and mapped accurately variables from original information or data source, and completed associated analyses.
•       Working knowledge of analytical data modeling using analytical and data visualization software tools.
 
•       Analyzed data with standard statistical methods, interpreting the results, and providing written summary of data analyses.
•       Prepared and made presentations reflecting results of analyses, drawing conclusions and making recommendations.
 
Required Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
•       Business or quantitative analysis/statistics bachelor’s degree with a 3.0 (out of 4.0) or better GPA;
•       Work requires the ability to quickly and accurately read, comprehend, analyze and produce written materials.
•       Excellent financial and analytical abilities with functional knowledge of statistical methodologies and techniques.
•       Must be proficient in data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau and Microsoft Power BI), data access and reporting tools (e.g., Hyperion Brio, Essbase and Cognos), and Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Access and PowerPoint) with the requisite computer skills.
•       Skilled in writing computer scripts and programs (e.g., SQL, R, Python, Matlab, SAS, Java, Visual Basic), considered a plus.
•       Requires excellent analytical ability, attention to detail, be self-motivated and ability to work independently and in teams.
•       Excellent written and oral communications skills.
•       Strong organizational, analytical, research and time management skills.
•       Strong problem solving skills to assist in troubleshooting software and data issues.
•       Working knowledge of Insurance function and the rental car business model, a plus.
•       Rental business awareness and strong numerical ability.
 
Travel Requirements
Minimal travel is required.
