Web Developer Intern (Summer 2022)

Description
We’re looking for Web Developer Interns to join our engineering team this summer. This is an exciting opportunity to work on the world's first tech platform designed for LGBTQ+ people fleeing persecution. This is an essential position and a fantastic internship opportunity for anyone looking to use their knowledge of web and mobile application development for social good. 

Responsibilities
  • Report directly to our engineering team’s leadership. 
  • Contribute to our web and mobile application development.
  • Collaborate with our volunteer UX designers to develop and deploy new features, and ensure a positive user experience. 
  • Write code to maintain server-side logic, manage the application database, and add new features.
  • Ensure our tech platform is mobile-friendly and cross-browser compatible.
  • Plan for future changes to our website, web application and mobile applications (iOS and Android).
  • Work to efficiently fix any technical bugs as they arise.

Qualifications
  • 1+ year experience with web and/or mobile application development.
  • Familiarity with code versioning tools (GitHub), Redis, User Authentication, User Security.
  • Working understanding of tech stack:

  • Express.js / Node
  • You are comfortable using online communication tools (e.g. Slack, Asana, G Suite, Zoom).
  • Ability to work closely with team members as well as independently.
  • Passion for LGBTQ+ and/or refugee rights. 

Schedule & Compensation: We’re looking for interns to join us for Summer 2022 (target dates: Monday, May 23 – Friday, August 5, 2022) with a commitment of 10-30 hours per week, Monday – Friday.
*Note: This internship is remote and unpaid. Interns may also extend the internship into the 2022 Fall Semester.
