2249 - Program Assistant Grant Operations

The National Endowment for Democracy (NED), a federally funded, private, nonprofit grantmaking organization that works to support freedom around the world, seeks a Program Assistant for the grant operations team. The position is based in Washington, D.C. 
 
Position Summary: 
The Project Assistant works under the supervision of the Vice President, Grant Operations & Evaluation (GOE) to support the VP office and coordinate initiatives across the department. Responsibilities include providing administrative support to the VP, GOE office and coordinating among GrantsOps and regional teams to support a dynamic and growing grantmaking program.
 
Responsibilities: 
Responsible for assisting the Vice President, GOE with the administration of operations across the grantmaking program team. This includes:
  • Providing administrative support for the Grant Operations unit, to include calendar maintenance, scheduling, arranging meetings, note taking, drafting, and editing documents and other materials, and other administrative support tasks as needed.
  • Assisting in preparation of grantmaking data and reporting for a variety of internal and external audiences.
  • Coordinating the preparation and submission of proposals and reports for DOS.
  • Assist with coordinating with other NED departments on planning, budget tracking, grant information, and other processes, projects, and special initiatives.
  • Liaising with all levels of staff to ensure that day-to-day operations and special projects are supported and completed efficiently.
  • Providing overflow administrative support to other GrantOps teams as needed.
  • Other responsibilities and projects as assigned.
 
Qualifications: 
  • Knowledge/Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
  • Proficiency with MS Office, Sharepoint, Tableau, Salesforce or other databases.
  • 0-2 years of work experience in an office environment.
  • Other Qualifications:
  • Interest in international affairs and the support and strengthening of democratic institutions worldwide.
  • Foreign language competency preferred.
  • Authorized to work in the U.S
  • Competencies:
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Attention to detail and the ability to maintain focus on tasks.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with demonstrated ability to interact effectively with all levels of staff and with discretion.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, international office environment.
 
This position is part of the NED Bargaining Unit.
