Turning Pointe Survivor Advocacy Center (Shelton, WA) started in 2000 and serves roughly 600 people a year. We are the only advocacy center for both Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault survivors in Mason County. We operate one of the largest emergency domestic violence shelters (one of the only pet-friendly) in the State of Washington. We serve survivors through a variety of services including legal advocacy and clinics, youth advocacy, support groups, referrals, emergency shelter, general advocacy, safety planning, 24-hour helpline, and prevention education. Turning Pointe also has a satellite office in Belfair focused on youth services and bringing services to the North Mason and Kitsap area. All services are free and confidential, and all survivors are served.

Member Duties: This position will be 100% in person. M to F business hours with some evenings or weekends for special events. In this position, you will be responsible for designing and launching a sustainable volunteer/intern program that will enable us to serve more survivors experiencing poverty. The VISTA project will result in an official volunteer and intern program at Turning Pointe that will be able to continue growing past its first year. You will create the program from the ground up, gleaning best practices from other nonprofits and staff that have volunteer/intern experience. Your VISTA assignment will include: 1) Designing the program 2) Recruiting volunteers and interns 3) Training and retaining volunteers and interns 4) Designing and implementing processes for evaluating and recognizing volunteers
