Finance Manager

Full Spectrum Features NFP seeks a full-time Finance Manager who is passionate about racial/gender justice and the power of cinema to effect social change. The Finance Manager will be responsible for overseeing the financial operations of the organization from a process perspective, and will be a key driver, with senior leadership, of the overall financial strategy of the organization. In addition, the individual will manage the financial processes for the organization’s filmmaking activities which include financing, budgeting, spending, and tax credit management.

The ideal candidate will have deep knowledge of financial analysis and strategy, a strong understanding of financial operations, proficiency with financial management software, and a relentless dedication to process improvement and task automation. The role requires a high level of proficiency with Microsoft Excel (or Google Sheets) in order to conduct financial analysis, build budgets, and report to senior leadership, clients, funders, and other key stakeholders.

This is a unique opportunity for somebody who understands the potential for excellent financial management and strategy to multiply the impact of the creative arts sector. The ideal candidate will have 3-5 years of experience in financial administration with a proven track-record of delivering financial analysis for the purpose of strategy development.

Experience in the film industry is not necessary nor expected.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Financial Management:
  • Assist FSF’s board and senior leadership in analyzing the organization’s overall financial picture to create and execute a 3-5 year financial strategy.
  • Improve and further automate financial processes across the organization, including hardening approval processes and financial controls. This includes the ability to evaluate and onboard new software solutions that meet the needs of a growing organization.
  • Develop organization-wide budgeting and expense reporting processes.
  • Produce grant-related budgets, budget narratives, and financial reports.
  • Complete all government financial filings (e.g., IRS Form 990, State Form AG990-IL)
  • Primary liaison with external CPA for annual audit, LLC financial filings, K1’s, 1099’s
  • Create and deliver key financial reports to FSF leadership (e.g., Budget Projection vs. Actuals, Cashflow Analysis, Expense Management, Debt Payback, etc.)
  • Administer fiscal sponsorship and donations processes.
  • Serve as primary liaison with external bookkeeper (Afable Consulting) to oversee administration of AR, AP, Month-End-Close processes. This also includes monitoring accounting lists (Acct, Class, Dept., Sales, Chart of Accounts).
Line Producing:
  • Build film budgets using FSF’s proprietary budget template.
  • End-to-end tax credit management and processing.
  • Set up production spending infrastructure for each film (Ramp, Wrapbook).
  • Track, in near real time, spending on film shoots (budget vs. actuals in Quickbooks).

QUALIFICATIONS: The ideal candidate will be organized, prompt, professional, eager to learn, and have exceptional writing and communication skills.
  • Proven knowledge of financial analysis and strategy, with a background in accounting or financial operations and administration
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong presentation skills, including the ability to summarize complex financial information for a nonspecific audience
  • In-depth knowledge of financial reporting standards, tax regulations and industry legislation for both not-for-profit and for-profit organizations
  • Highly organized with a strong attention to detail
  • High proficiency with accounting systems (Quickbooks Online) and financial processes
  • Field vision — i.e., the ability to understand larger cultural, economic, political, and social forces impacting the arts sector and our communities at large
  • Familiarity with Google Workspace (online calendars, cloud systems, Drive, etc.)
  • Experience exercising discretion and confidentiality with sensitive information
  • Preferred, but not required: Working knowledge of film industry financing, film tax credits, and film budgeting

COMPENSATION: $40,000-$50,000 (annual salary, full-time W-2 employment, approx. 40 hours/week)
