Special Education Teacher - Moderate/Severe

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
Under the direction of Special Services Director and school Principal, the Special Day Class MM Teacher provides instruction and services for students whose needs have been identified in an individual education program (IEP) developed by the IEP team. 
 
BASIC FUNCTIONS AND PURPOSE:
Implement IEP with appropriate lesson plans and classroom strategies. Observe and make ongoing evaluation of pupil’s academic and social growth, keep appropriate records, prepare progress reports, and communicate with parents. Integrate students for maximum interaction with peers, plan and coordinate the work of aides. 
 
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Experience in teaching and implementing IEPs for children.
  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • California Education Specialist Instruction Credential- Moderate/Severe.
  • Strong behavior management and positive discipline skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with professional personnel, community and parents
  • Ability to coordinate and direct the work of instructional assistants, support personnel
